digitalbytes.net is my personal domain. Some friends and I came up with the name and registered the site back in 2000. We went with digitalbytes.net mainly because nerdpad.net and geekpalace.com were already taken, and digitalbytes was the next nerdiest name we could find.

My name is Michael Long. My interests include programming, Linux, video games, and technology in general. I grew up in southern Indiana and went to college at Indiana University, where I predictably obtained a degree in Computer Science.

Since graduating from Indiana University in 2000, I've been working as a programmer in the video game industry. I've worked at a few different companies and am currently employed at Human Head Studios. The most recent project I worked on was Prey, and I also have worked on Soldier of Fortune and Star Trek: Voyager: Elite Force, both for the Playstation 2, and Rainbow Six: Rogue Spear for the Dreamcast

I currently live in beautiful Madison, WI, and I attend nearby Door Creek Church.
